I was in to John Deere for a while. I bought a new 40 series in 1981. I'd be leary of it. That 2840 was made in Manhiem Germany. It just wasn't the best Deere ever made. If it was a 2940 it would be a different story. If your Allis is OK and you know it,I wouldn't go for what's in the box behind the curtain.
