I've broadcast ryegrass an had pretty good luck. The problem with broadcast is if you don't get enough rain to set the roots. If it germinates and doesn't get enough rain to get the roots started it will die. Also ryegrass hates hot weather here in north Arkansas it was 92 to day if it gets that hot you stand a chance of loosing it. In the spring if you either cut it for hay or mow it before it matures it shouldn't hurt your bermuda. Ryegrass makes pretty good hay. Hope this helps
