A JD 40, 420, 430 or 440 (2 cylinder gas) would do a nice job for you. Locally, (NorthEast) they are available in the $3000-$4000 price range. 440 diesel or a 1010 would do as well, but are pricier. Also a 310 Case would make a nice unit. Be aware (or beware) that THE biggest consideration on used dozers is the condition of the undercarriage. Rebuilding tracks, rollers and final drives is not for the average mechanic, and shop labor rates to re-bush and re-pin are enough to make strong men weep. Rebuilding a pair of tracks can easily run in the $4000 range. You're generally better off to pay more for a unit with a good undercarriage than to buy a cheapie and then get tagged with the extra expense. Take somebody with you that knows what to look for. One indicator is the amount of adjustment left on the tensioner. More is good. Good luck.
