NW Iowa. Our own beans are done but not much progress on corn, maybe 10% done. There are lots of beans still in the field in this area. Last Fri. and Sat. we parked the four wheel drive tractor at the end of the field so it would be handy when a combine or cart got stuck. We used it several times.
Corn moisture is running 15% to 19.5%. Yeilds are vary variable depending on where the scarce rain fell in july. Second year corn is doing from 100 to 200 bu. Corn on beans seems to be in the 150 range. Bean yeilds have been all over the board, from 40 to 65 bu depending where the rain hit and if the aphids were heavy or not.
We have had rain since Sunday and the forecast is for rain the rest of the week. Possibly two inches today.
We have had a lot of cars running into tractors and wagons this year and I don't know why.Jim
