I can really relate to this. Local hardware is six miles which is't bad but they are high, and they have to be to stay in business. Big box is cheaper but 30 miles away.
It pays to pick up that discarded small piece of pipe with a fitting on it that you find laying someplace. Take it apart right away and toss it in the coffee can (we all have one. don't we?). Might be five years before we need it, but at least we don't have to buy it. Jim
