I am 26 years old and married. My wife and I have been together for 10 years now. We have 2 children and we made not even 40,000 last year. We own our home, which we are of course still paying on it, and we drive decent vehicles. Too many people these days don"t want to work to save some money. I bought this mini farm from my parents, with 5 acres, why not save some money. This year I canned close to 600 jars of food, froze a ton of veggies, and cut and split 6 1/2 cords of wood by hand. No gas bill and a small grocery bill. I work my a** off to have what we have, but the important thing is we don"t live beyond our means. I believe alot that life is what you make of it. If your not willing to get your hands dirty, then you will pay through out life. The only way to protect yourself from the high gas prices, it to try to work around things, and save somewhere else to make up for the cost of gas. I believe that the economy is doing horrible, but hopefully someday things will change. This year was a good year for us, but now the wife is back in school for her LPN. Gas is eating us up, but after this is over things will be better.

It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer.
