hiboy i think the paint was put there to seal the casting,s from weaping, my partner has sold 27 n-series ford,s in the last year there just dont seem to be enough to go around, they were short life motor,s they run about 11 inches out of the dirt. the 4020 was not clumsy or a great part,s breaker. i would put them in the top 5, or the tractor that saved john deere.after it,s all said the mighty FARMALL M and H still keep working. number one and two.
