I have a 6' Side Winder Model H, 6 X 6, 3 pt. bush hog. It was made by FMC Corp. in Louisiana, I believe a 1974 model. I checked my owners manual and it didn't list a weight. It is heavy built though and must weigh at least 500# or more. I have used it on my JD 530 for years. The 530 will lift it and mow just fine with it with no front weight on the tractor. But I use it on level ground also. Most of the time I do have a JD #45 loader on the tractor with a dirt bucket, and feel it balances things better with the front ballast the loader provides. Can't say how your Ford may handle it as I'm not familiar with them. I tried to Google both side winder and FMC Corp. FMC came up as a chemical company (insecticides etc.), and didn't get anything related to rotary mowers for side winder. FMC used to make Bolens garden tractors also. I had a Bolens 12 hp tractor with mower deck and snow plow back in the 80's. It was a good heavy machine also. Not sure if that FMC Corp. is still in business.
