At one time i got to were i could drop a V8 with a automatic and change out the rear end in a day on these old chebby trucks,,, if the front end was off,,, fenders and hood

A 57 chevy car rear end will bolt up to the springs (other may werk I had a stash of the 57's) enny chevy car 6 or V8 and automatic will fit. No power house needed,,, a 307 will do.

You will need to off set the engine a little to the right to clear the steering box,,, if you plan to use the OEM box

Take the drive shaft out of the tube and you will have the best pry bar you can find.

I can not think of a better truck to fix up,,, back when i werked for nuttin I would do the swap for $200 labor and a 100 in parts and material and thought I was stealing from'em. At that time the labor rate was 8 to 10 bucks a hour.

My dad died in 1990 and had a 5 window that was completely restored original,,, all that it needed was the bed installed. My BIL ended up with it and sold the bed,,, best bed and fenders i have ever seen, he wanted a stake bed,, dum arse. to this day its sits were my dad left it in a shed,,, No bed. To make matters worst I did the swap on his 50 for free,,, next week he sold it. 1/2 a turn or 3/4 it would not matter to me,,, I had rather have the 3/4 are better enny way,,, take a Flore shift over a column enny day.
