By all means, make sure he gets to that doctor and the hospital, this procedure is seemingly straight forward for most people these days, you're out in 3 days, maybe less now, at least I was 9 years ago.
I knew something was up yet I pulled (3) 12's at work after I first noticed the pains, not realizing how dangerous this could be, job comes first and all that jazz, waited until friday afternoon, finish the week out, no lost time etc., doctor had me admitted immediately after the examination, so I checked in and took my place in line on the gurney, must have been busy, there were several others ahead of me or just in line. Woke up the next morning after the initial wake up from recovery, a little sick from the anesthesia, held my own, no upchuck but felt like it, fought that off, then was real hungry, in/out sleeping the rest of the day, left Sun mid-day, with a shot of demerol on the way out, watched the In-Laws with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin at a friends place, was so hard not to laugh, the darned incision etc., following saturday was on my skates in my regular league hockey game, was a done deal, doc said it was ok, just take er easy. I did take the week off to recover though.
Thoughts/prayers are with your family, make sure he gets this taken care of, he'll get home after it's done, might be late, but healthy, stand tall and stay strong !

I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
