I handle 1/2 ton square bales with my Ford 8N with no loader and no bale spear (although I might get one soon). I have cement all over the place and just pull (with a couple of chains) and push (with the 8N's front bumper) my bales around. Over the winter, I have small bales - makes feeding easier with snow and such. In the spring, I buy 1/2 ton bales from a local dairy farmer to finish up feeding until the grass is ready and for my donkeys (that don't go on the pasture). Tim
