If all you are mowing is a very large YARD, and not some grazing lot with weeds, brush, big mole-hills, etc., then you don't necessarily need a real tractor just for that... I ended up with the mowing duties for my large yard and my father's HUGE yard on the other side of the barns when he could no longer mow his grass. What had been a daily hobby for him was gonna be drudgery for me. I bought a 60" SWISHER trailing mower with a 13hp engine, hooked it onto an older 16hp Wheelhorse with hydrostatic drive, and the assembly cuts more than an 8' path at 3+mph. If you have a rugged lawn or garden tractor, this is the cheap way to go, and it does a beautiful job. It's NOT as much fun as driving a REAL tractor, however!
