The NAPA version does not use jel. It uses so little acid that its almost a dry cell! I've seen a demo where it was dropped from 50 feet into the infield grass at the Charlotte racetrack, then tied on a rope behind the Exide race car and dragged down pit road. Then they drilled 6 or 8 holes in the side of the battery with a drill. No acid leaked out at all. After subjecting all this abuse...they installed it in the race car, cranked it off this battery with the holes in the side and drove off. They are considerably cheaper than the Optima brand. Another factor to consider with the spiral cell battery is that with the lack of acid, and acid vapors, corrosion on the terminals is pretty much non existant. They come with four top post terminals, and two side post terminals making them one of the most universal batterys out there. I didn't post this as a commercial, I usually refrain from NAPA postings, (obvious bias!), but I've sold a pretty good number of these since they came out and havn't had one returned alleged defective yet. I like its track record so far.
