I personally think it is sending the wrong message. Borrowing, overspending, and not saving $$ is our problem. Most families that will recieve it will buy electronics with it, wont boost our economy much. Those that save, will make a deposit and keep it, or apply it to a loan. Those that are facing a mortgage forclosure will probably put a down payment on a apartment. While the rest will treat it like a welfare or AFDC check. I do not want it to happen, send the wrong message. The message should be to learn from the lesson of the past few years, start saving money, stop borrowing so much, start buying more American made products, and support your local economy, and adjust ourselves to live a more modest lifestyle. I personally will either (1)divy it up for the kids college savings, (2) apply it to our mortgage. (3) Donate a portion to the "make a wish foundation" or gift cards for a few local senior citizens as it doesnt look like they will be getting anything in this program.
