Guano may come from bats, but also from birds. there were/are whole islands that started from a small coral reef, where birds nested, and over thousands of years the droppings built up and turned rock like. In some places hundreds of feet deep. From the days of sailing ships men have "harvested" the stuff, probably using slaves or convicts, at one time. The chemical fertilizer industry has taken over now, but I assume some third world countrys still dig, and bag, Guano.
