Take a large plastic drinking glass, fill over half full with warm water swirled with dish soap. Walk up under the nest and just sling the whole glassfull all over the nest in one motion. The wasps will never get close to you. I was skeptical till I saw it done and became an instant believer.
The soapy water does two things... 1, it wets their wings so they can't fly, 2, Insects breathe through their exoskeletons and the coating of soap suffocates them pretty quickly. Most of whats on the nest will fall to the ground instantly and stay there. Non-toxic and non-flamable. Been doing this for years and have never been stung.
