Consider if they increased your pay by 35% to keep pace with the increase of goods and services... Your employer would have to increase the prices of their goods and/or services by at least 35%. The people that buy good/services from your company would have to increase their prices/pay by at least 35%, and so on and so forth...
Looks good on paper for a few weeks, but pretty soon you're right back in the same boat, just the numbers are 35% higher than before.
