Hmmmm . . .I always wondered what government was for. Here I thought it was to defend the constitution and the bill of rights. And to provide national defense. Everything else is socialism.
Asking the government to control commerce is socialism. Any control, taxes, tariffs, production quotas, or profit control reduces the freedom of capitalism.
This thread was started by a whiner that can't figure out how to reduce their dependency on oil, so they blame everyone from the oil companies to government for their plight.
Companies in a capitalistic society are free to make and price a product however they want. We, as consumers, are free to buy it or not. Since most of us haven't found a cheaper source of transportation, then fuel prices must still be pretty attractive.
Quit whining. If you think oil prices are artificially inflated to gouge us, then start your own oil company and give Exxon/Mobil some good 'ole capitalistic competition. If you can't do that, the stop complaining.
