Last one I saw done this way was back in the 50's ... (I was a kid) One of my uncles took an old truck (I think it was a model 'A') and he converted it into a tractor... He made some blocks and mounted the rear axle solid to the frame... Fabricated some drops for the front axle and was able to mount some small tractor tires on the back. I think he had 2 transmissions mounted end to end.. He left the first one in low gear and shifted the second. It worked.. for light use on a small acreage... I think if you've got a truck, time, tools, metal laying around etc... and want a project, great. If you have to spend any quantity of money on it then you are better off looking for a real tractor. bbott
