rough rice is sold by hundredweight,
bushel weighs 45 pounds.
yesterdays close on near term futures was right at $20 per hundredweight.
Never Been that high, it will actually break even and maybe make a couple bucks per acre at that.
average yield here in Arkansas is around 160 bushels per acre. average in my county is closer to 180.
but like everything else, the cost of producing it has also went up even quicker.
average around $400 to $600 per acre for fertilizer, lots more for diesel or electricity to keep a flood pumped up all summer on it.
