I have just aquired my fathers 1979 David Brown. (He had bought it new back then) It hadn't been started for 2 years. I changed the oil and oil filter initially. Oil in engine had water in it, but I'm putting this down to rain water going down the exhust pipe over the last 2 years out in the open. After a few attempts I managed to jump start it by rolling it down a hill. Engine is ticking over nicely, but has a few oil leaks here and there. I've never restored a tractor before and would like to restore it to it's former glory. Trouble is...... I've never restored a tractor before and my knowlwdge of engines is limited. Where do I start?? I suspect engine needs to be reconditioned. Is it hard to get parts. Paintwork is poor... rust here and there. Where do I start on this?? Any help greatly appreciated. Regards.
