Must be a heifer kind of a year. I was at something like 19 heifers and 6 bulls before I got 7 bulls in a row. I'm up to 48 calved with 28 to go.Running about 50/50 bulls and heifers now. Had a heck of a run of bad luck.Lost 5 so far. One backwards, one with the nose up and the feet back. One got hung up in the mud in a cold rain overnight and froze, then two that the mothers wouldn't take care of after being weak from being born in the cold. Tried everything in my bag of tricks to save them. Was talking to a friend yesterday who said his neighbor had lost 18. Said he lost 7 in one shot in a heavy rain. 8 cows and calves were back across the creek when the water came up. They tried to come back across and only one of the calves made it.The rest went down stream.
