Hear you on running. Last year I had a couple of calves basking in the sun. Was early afternoon, sun was coming down real good and these critters were all stretched out just like they were dead. Scared the heck out of me. Looked around and saw nothing to have caused it so I touched one with my toe.
Well, I didn't realize it but mother and the rest of the cows came up behind me and when she saw me touch her baby she charged me and literally backed me up to about crotch deep in the pond.....next time I will be more careful. This cow is my best and most protective mother. Really wish all were like that.
