Could've knocked me over with a feather to see this a few weeks back on a Sunday drive! This was erected sometime earlier this spring.
Not the best pics, partly because it's so darn big I couldn't get a good shot of it. Guess it's more interesting for showing that someone's making big investments in Connecticut farming still.
I'm guessing around 600 head. Cows in it currently are all young heifers and I didn't see a milk parlor...but they may just be waiting till the herd is approaching time to milk. I can't imagine it's just to raise replacement heifers.
The Slurry Store above ground tank for the manure is the first one I know of in my part of the state (seen them on the western side).
Kind of a nice view though with the old stone wall...the road is straight because it's part of an old Hartford -- Providence turnpike; this section of the turnpike had already be "bypassed" prior to 1830. Imagine all the farmers who've worked this land over the centuries.
