I see another side to this issue. I am always in the market for bargain tools and equipment. I constantly search Craigslists and other ads. But when you go to purchase these items people want crazy prices for them. To me nothing used is worth more than half its retail cost. Just saw a Lincoln Porta torch for $400. New it's $275 in Home Depot. Yet these guys wonder why no one even calls on their ad. People say they hate to scrap things but won't sell at a reasonable price. Just tried to buy a rusty 6' snowplow blade that I'd like to put a quick mount on formy Bobcat. He won't budge from the $300. It's still sitting ther 3 weeks later.
