I'm installing 11/32nds wide exterior siding, over the drywall, to the inside of a room in our house. Do I need to move the outlet and switch boxes out 11/32nds of an inch or could I just use longer screws to tighten the outlets to the boxes in the wall? If I need to move the boxes, I would probably use a sawzall to cut the plastic fasteners and then buy new boxes that can be installed in existing construction. I dont' want to risk a house fire, but also don't want to move the boxes out if it is not necessary. This is a long shot, but is there a box extension for this application? This isn't my idea, but is one of those things I need to do.
