Hi guys, how's everybody been. It's been a while. Question. Is anybody else having trouble with corn turning purple? I have 2 fields of it with 3 different varieties of corn doing it. Not just in patches in the field, but all over. It looks like a classic case of phosphorus deficiency to me. The big mystery is,right at the end of the rows, where the planter was either raising up or going down, for about 2-3 feet, the corn is green as can be and about twice the size. I'm thinking the fertilizer was placed shallower there and the roots have reached it but they haven't where it was placed deeper. It was planted May 21 and 22 in those two fields and it was unGodly cold and dry until Memorial Day here, then warm and dry up until a week ago. We've had 2.4 inches of rain since a week ago last Thursday now and the temps have been normal. 45 years of growing corn and I've never seen anything like this. The corn on other ground planted just before and after this looks great. Some of the same varieties as this. Anybody have any thoughts? I'm hoping it'll grow out or it with all the money I've already thrown at it and phosphorus being in the neighborhood of $1000 a ton.
