I remove it also in some cases. It comes off on my 570 small square when baling behind 30ft and 25ft grain platforms. Just not enough clearance to let it feed. Also comes off when I rebale large round into small squares. When it is on it is just floating all tension off otherwise yea really easy to plug with it there. But yes you can plug it with it remove but have only done it couple times so far with it removed. Plug it several times with it on
