It only takes one push, and is very handy when you are in and out of the truck a lot (like hooking up a trailer)
Otherwise I don't think there is a way to disable the "Beltminder" feature (I checked before I found the button pushing trick) I kind of like the headlight dinger though, has saved my tail a couple times. I rarely leave the keys in it so that one isn't too big of a bother for me.
