My Long 445 4wd tractor has never steered without a lot of effort. Last year I did a complete overhaul of the steering box because it was leaking gear oil but it did not improve the hard steering. I also did a quickie rebuild of the hydraulic pump and for a while it steered easier but not great. I put a gauge in the pump discharge line and it reads only 500PSI. I also notice that when I clean the suction filter it gets better but still not great. I am wondering now if my pump is shot or maybe the steering cylinder/valve needs attantion as it is the only component not messed with yet.
So what do you all think? If I need to replace the pump can someone please tell me what sort of crazy standard it is built to? I have never seen a bolt mounting pattern like that before. Anyone have a good one for sale? I am open to any and all suggestions. (Well, almost all) :-)
