Are you running power through a resistor to get down to 6 volts at the coil? If you are then I would suggest putting in a jumper wire to the coil bypassing the resistor only at start up. If you put a diode in the wire it will not backfeed and cut voltage when using the cut down power. I have done this on all of my M"s and it works great. Before I did this they all crank and crank and crank and are very slow to start. Run your wire from the starter terminal to the coil input terminal.
