Yes. There is a special rod and flux that is used to weld pot metal. They use a very fine point on the torch flame for control. There used to be an old guy that attended the engine shows around here that sold the torch set, pot metal rod, flux, cast iron rod, and cast iron flux. He would demonstrate the use of both. He welded cast iron with used cast piston rings as well with the flux. I bought the cast iron rod and flux and use my big torch with the smallest tip. I have wished many times I had bought the pot metal stuff.
