If you put a resistor in the ignition coil line it may have gone bad. Try bypassing it and see if the tractor starts with it out of there. Then go and buy a new one and put it in. Or, run it without one! That is what I have done for the last 2 years. I know I will get a backlash for saying that but mine has been working fine with the resistor gone.
