The pistol part someone else will have to help you on, I have a Ruger 9MM semiauto but no rev olvers. For 200 yds and under I would go for a medium size round such as a 6MM-.243 or similar balistics cartridge. Those sizes are well suited for whitetail but as always , shot placement is vital to stopping any game animal. If you intend to use the meat stay away from the larger calibers as they destroy much meat. I will get a lot of flack on this one but although the 30-06 is immensly popular in my opinion it is a bit large for deer. In my hunting career most of my deer were downed with a .257 Roberts, most on the spot, very little chase, lets hear from others, every one has differing experiences and all viewpoints are valid as there are many differing circumstances and terrain to consider. mEl
