1957 was the last production year for the S55, beginning in 1958 the S55 evolved into the 550 with different styling and other improvements. The 550 had the longest run of any Oliver model ending production early 1975. When the S55 debuted in 54 it was ahead of most utility tractors having as standard equipment live hydraulics, indepedent pto and a six speed transmission. The color scheme was primarily green even the wheels as were all the super series. Oliver owners were used to red wheels etc. In 1957 Oliver went back to red wheels. I too have a price manual that has a difference of $900 between the 56 model and the 57. Standard power steering was not available for the 55. I have a 64 550 that doesn't have PS.
