I disconnected all the lights from the factory wiring and rewired them to a switch that comes directly off the battery. The lights will now burn without the engine shutting off or at least they did for about 30 minutes. Interestingly, the dash lights -- oil pressure, altometer, fuel guage, water temp lights did not work with the light switch turned off. I would like the dash and instrument lights to work so I can monitor the engine at night also. I tried turning the light switch on and the engine did not shut off after running for 30 minutes with both the light switch on --with the wiring disconnected at the lights but still in place where it was --and with the lights --now rewired direct to the battery --turned on. Did the lights just pull to much amperage for the factory wiring to handle causing the overload switch to cut off?
