I was just wondering for you guys out there that have tractors that did not have large production #'s, are not popular, and rather unique - what do you do for parts? Where do you get maintenance items for your tractors? Has anyone swapped out an engine so that maintaining it wouldn't be such a hassle? I'm new to the tractor world and just purchased an older tractor (although not an antique). The tractor has a gas powered engine (around 30 hp). I am told that the engine is actually a Mazda engine (72 CID) - and I am trying to figure out if this will make it any easier to get parts for it (auto parts store?). How could I find out if the engine was used in any other applications (snow mobiles, outboard motors, etc.)? Being new to the tractor world, and having bought a tractor that is not very popular (IH 284) I am just wondering what kind of tricks I will need to learn in order to maintain it. It seems for older cars it is easier to find parts for than older tractors (but then again I am talking about Camaro's and Mustangs which were a little more popular than an IH 284!). Thanks for any ideas, Mike
