I think something like that could turn on a landowner in NY, kind of a trap, however if pushed into a corner, without alternate options, tire spikes, protruding 3/4"-1", and posted signs, try to stay congruent with the law, no need for anyone to get hurt, lot of these people know better, lot of farms in this area, the may not have realized there is livestock inside the fence, still they are a royal pain in the @ss when they damage fences, but seems that they just wanted a place to pass through, always try not to escalate a situation when possible, which is not always the case with these people.
