Sounds like Henery Fords "knock them in the head" program when he first released the model A People would buy the old Ts that were traded in but few bought a new A. SO he had the dealers take a sledge to the head of all the traded in Ts so they were to costly to repair. Gave the dealers enough money per "victim" to make sure they did not sell any traded in Ts. Found a gully out side Buffalo that had about 50 of the "victims" in it
