Kawawsaki mules are a good machine and cheaper than the Kubota. I think they have a diesel one as well. They aren't hydrostatic but nothing wrong with hydro transmisssions if used right. One of the most efficent transmissions there is. Polaris or Yamaha aren't the same class of vehicle. Skid steers use hydro trans. and there are thousands of them out there along with a whole mess of other machines that use them. Crawler loaders and some dozers use hydrostatic trans. Most large dozers use a different trans. Almost every machine on a golf course has a hydrostatic transmission and they get used a lot. It is wrong to say they aren't a good transmission.
