I don't think Economy ever used Briggs engines so that one may be a drop in. Every one I ever saw had a Kohler. I came close to buying a new one in 1970 but didn't. Anyhow, I looked at them a lot in that era. I like the solid drive sytem which is built for 25 HP or more.

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity".
