I am in the wiring stage of a complete restoration of a CA, and need some advice on how to proceed with the conversion to 12 volt using a new factory wiring harness. I have a generator and starter that I have had rebuilt for conversion to 12 volt. The factory manual shows the voltage reg attached to the generator. Can I still obtain this reg, and in 12 volt? Someone had spliced wiring for a three wire reg into the old wiring harness, and it was messy looking. It was mounted just back of the generator near the tool box lid. I thought about mounting a reg inside the tool compartment out of site...Does the black, small last wire in the wiring harness go to the distributor? Can I add wiring for the voltage reg coming out of the ignition box to keep from having to splice into my new harness? Will the new condenser and points require a step-down resistor to protect them? Thanks, Lynn
