lance, if you cannot afford to buy a hoist right now, rent one!!! you"re dealing with a fair amount of weight, and if you try and fab up some type of home-made lift, things can go real wrong-real fast. engine hoist will prolly rent for 25-50 dollars for the day, rent it to remove the motor, then when you are going to re-install it, rent it again. if you drop the motor with a homemade lift, not only could you seriuosly hurt yourself, you could also crack the block or tip the tractor over.
