Today I had a flat in a area that was not accessible to remove the tire and rim assy. Figured I would try to take the tire off the rim, leaving the rim still bolted in place. I was surprised how easy it was to remove and replace the tire and tube. Only major problem was rolling a tire up and down the creek and toting 4 air tanks of air down a 1000 ft trail.
