The last poster has it right, the black snotty stuff is indeed algae and is growing in your fuel, maybe in your main supply. You must go to a fuel distributor or an Injection pump repair center and buy an algaecide, Case sells it in pint and quart quantities to treat differing amounts of fuel. I think a pint size treats about 50 gallon. I have worked on diesel for 46 yrs and see several cases a year in ag and industrial systems alike. Have an extra set of filters on hand as spares as the residue will have to be removed. mEl
