I think that different manufacturers use different ways of holding the pin into the end of the pto shaft. I replaced one on my NH 273 baler some time ago and it was a simple matter of removing a c-clip and removing the pin/spring. However, I replaced one on my Big Bee brush hog a while back. It had come out of the shaft on its own. The pto shaft had to be peened over to hold the replacement pin in. So, I think you'll just have to look carefully at your implement and decide exactly what needs to be done.
