Larry, I have a 3 point mount back hoe, on a 50 HP tractor, that runs off the tractor hydraulics. The main complaint that I have is the inability to get the tractor weight transferred to the backhoe stabilizers. With the hoe mounted on the lift arms it tends to lift since there is no direct solid mount as there is with a dedicated hoe/tractor combination. For small projects such task as planting trees and shrubs it is manageable. If I was going to use the hoe for digging trenches or major earth movement, I would devise a method to rigidly mount the hoe to try to replicate a true back hoe. I paid $1400 for mine used and it still had the original teeth on the bucket.
