When they refer to "US workers", I would assume those are UAW member factory workers. And that number is what? I just did a quick search, and in 2006 that there were 557,099 UAW workers, and apparently falling. So the numbers I was using were a good deal under the true number.
I understand your points and I know that labor is only a portion of production costs. But again, 5 or 10, or 20 billion a year would seem to be able to make up for a great deal of other difficulties. Wouldn't it?
