In the 1970's diesel was cheap, gasoline was in demand. Everyone re-enginered their refineries to produce as much gas as possible. CatCrakers and Cokers became much more efficient. Be gratefull you are not using asphalt, not much of that is left out of a barrel of crude when they get done squizing everything else out of it.
