Ours was a ca 1970 GE, before Wheelhorse bought the product line. Just like yours - three 12 volt batteries in front of the steering wheel. I bought it for my mother so she would not have to deal with gasoline, and a battery for electyric start on an I/C engine. I gave up 10 years ago after the third set of batteries, and a couple of motor repairs. The E10 was just not enough mower for heavy grass, and trying to get the yard done in one day.
